Etherington ROCHELLE of New Hanover Co., NC to John PITMAN of New Hanover 
Co., NC
15 Oct. 1798

This Indenture made this 15th day of October in the year of our Lord, One 
Thousand seven hundred & ninety eight, between Etherington ROCHELLE of the 
County of New Hanover & State of North Carolina of the one part, & John 
PITMAN of the other part, witnesseth, that the said Etheringotn ROCHELLE for 
& in Consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds to me in hand paid by John 
PITMAN, before the unsealing & delivery thereof , where with the said 
Etherington ROCHELLE doth acknowledge himself fully satisfied,  acknowledged 
& paid, having given, granted, bargained, & sold, doth fully clearly & 
absolutely grant bargain & ever alien & fee simple & convey confirm unto the 
said John PITMAN his heirs & assigns forever, a certain parcel or tract of 
land lying & being in New Hanover County & on the North side of Holly 
Shelter at the mouth of Sandy Run containing fifty acres, beginning at a 
White Oak in the side of Sandy Run swamp, above the mouth of said run, & 
runs thence S 85 E 100 poles to a pine, thence N 5 E 100 poles to a pine, 
thence N 85 W 60 poles, thence to the beginning and I the said Etherington 
ROCHELL for myself my herein Execution & assigns, do covenant promise and 
agree to warrant & forever defend the said tract of parcel of land, with all 
the appertainances thereunto belonging unto to him the said John PITMAN his 
heirs & assigns against the lawful claims & demand, or any & every person or 
persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto se try hand & seal 
this 15th day of October 1798.
