Moore, Esq. The deceased was born on the 13th July, 1796 at "Brush Hill" (the seat of his father) near Wilmington, North Carolina. He was gifted with talents of the highest order, to which he had added a fund of rich and varied information. As a scholar, he was eminently alike for his profound learning, and the beautifully chaste style which characterized his conversation and his writings. He was a fond and affectionate husband and father, kindness, generosity and amiability marked all his intercourse with his fellows. He was indeed "a gentleman of the old school" and the tear of sympathy shed by many friends, testified that his family were not solitary in their bereavement; but e'er "life's fitful fever o'er," he gave them a rich source of consolation, in the declaration of his belief that his prayers were heard and accepted at a throne of grace, that his peace was made with God. His remains were attended to the grave by a long train of mourning friends and he was interred with masonic honors. B. B.
