The Morning Star - Sunday, April 30, 1899 Vol. LXIV No.34
DIED

MORTON-April 29th, 1899, CARRIE WARD, aged 7 years, eldest daughter 
of Geo. L. Morton.

  Funeral at 4 o'clock to-morrow (Monday) afternoon, from St. 
Andrew's Presbyterian Church.

Additional Comments:
Carrie Ward Morton was the daughter of George Lee Morton, Sr. and 
Eliza Ward (of Onslow County, NC).  Her younger sister was Eliza Ward 
Morton.  Their mother died in December of 1893, shortly after 
the birth of her sister, as a result of pneumonia.

Family history says that Carrie died of measles.

She is buried in the Stephen H. Morton family plots in Bellevue 
Cemtery, Wilmington, NC, beside her mother.  Her marker just shows, "C.MORTON".
