William Devane was born in 1786, the son of John Devane Jr. and Ann Julian 
Evans. He was a resident of New Hanover County, NC until after 1820. He 
married Olive Holloway. In 1840, he was a resident of Coweta County, GA. In 
1850, he was in Marion, GA. He died in 1863 in Troy, Pike County, AL.
