L1, p. 190 Edmund MOORE to Lewis HINES-both of New Hanover Co., NC - 340 Acres 19 May 1795 This Indenture made this Nineteenth day of in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and ninety five. Between Edmond MOORE of the State of North Carolina and County of New Hanover of the one part and Lewis HINES, the same state and County of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of Eighteen Pounds good and lawful money of the said State to me in hand paid by Lewis HINES before the unsealing & delivery of these presents the receipt thereof I acknowledge myself fully satisfied and paid every part and parcel thereof therefore have given granted bargained sold aliened and conveyed unto Lewis HINES one messuage tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of New Hanover and adjoining Fred’r. JONES and William NICHOLAS of the Executors of Frances CLAYTON, deceased and the Frying Pan Gallberry & on both sides of Godfrey’s Branch it being by estimation three hundred & forty acres taken up by one Edmund MOORE. To have and to hold to the said Lewis HINES his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns together with all the advantages woods ways waters and Water Courses & as for my apart the aforesaid Edmund MOORE my heirs executors administrators & assigns — covenant promise and engage unto the said Lewis HINES his heirs executors administrators assigns that they shall peaceably and quietly Hold use occupy and enjoy the aforesaid Land & premises with all the advantages & privileges to the same belonging free and clear of all incumbrance whatsoever & as for me the aforesaid Edmund MOORE my heirs Exor’s, adm.’s. & assigns will forever warrant and defend the aforesaid Land & premises as aforesaid to Lewis HINES his heirs Exor’s admrs. and assigns against the Lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever.
