Isaac HINES to John HINES both of New Hanover Co., NC - 20 acres 
9 Dec. 1837

State of North Carolina
New Hanover County
Know all men by these presents that I, Isaac HINES for and in consideration of 
the sum of one hundred & fifty dollars to me in hand paid by John HINES both of 
the State and County above mentioned the receipt and payment whereof is hereby 
acknowledged have bargained & sold and do hereby bargain & sell unto the said 
John HINES two certain pieces or parcels of land Located as follows: Beginning 
on the northeast River above Mars? Bluff & one hundred & eighty poles below the 
mouth of Island Creek running from thence S 16 degrees E 320 poles across the 
Main Road to a pine thence N 74 degrees E 90 poles to a pine near the Road 
thence N 16 degrees West to the River containing 180 acres more or less also a 
small Island around the lower landing on Island Creek & including the landing 
suppose to contain 20 acres more or less. I the said Isaac HINES do hereby 
warrant & forever defend the title of the ab one named piece of Land unto the 
said John HINES, his heirs executors &/c against claim of me my heirs executors 
&/c and against the lawful claim or each and person whomsoever. In Testimony 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 9 of December 1837.
