BLANKS to Lewis HINES, both of New Hanover Co., NC 13 April 1801 This Indenture made the thirteenth day of April in the year of Our Lord One Thousand and Eighteen Hundred and One, Between William BLANKS of the one part and Lewis (HINES was left out) of the other part, Witness that the said William BLANKS for and in consideration of the sum of ninety pounds current money of North Carolina to him in hand paid by Lewis HINES the receipt of which he doth hereby acknowledge an death given granted bargained and sold, and doth by these presents give grant bargain and sell unto Lewis HINES one certain tract; piece or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred and eighty acres, be the same more or less. Butted and bounded as followith, beginning at the center of three pines by Rich’d PLAYER, Sr, deceased in a Savanah thence running South sixty four degrees east forty five chains to a Cypress by said PLAYERS branch, thence South twenty six degrees west thirty seven chains to a stake near Thos. MERRICKS line thence along by said line North eighty seven west forty five chains to a bay by said branch and thence up Richard PLAYERS, Sr. old line to the first station which said land was Patent by Richard PLAYER, Jun’r. bearing date twentieth day of April one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven and also fifty acres more it being part of a tract taken up and patent by Richard PLAYER, October One Thousand seven hundred & forty butted and bounded as followeth, beginning on Thomas MERRICK’S side line running the course of his line about three hundred yards and thence running eastwardly and southwardly tot he said Rich’d PLAYER’S line so as to compliat? the quantity above mentioned to have and to hold the aforesaid lands and premises with all singular the advantages houses outhouses woods ways waters and water courses and with all and singular appurtenants to the same belonging or in any ways appertaining unto the said Lewis HINES his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only benefit forever and I the said William BLANKS for myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns do covenant and agree to and with the said William HINES (must be a mistake-should be Lewis HINES) his heirs and assigns shall and may peaceably and quietly have hold occupy possess and enjoy the above bargained and sold premises with the appertainances thereunto belonging or in anyway appertaining free and clear of this lawful claim or any person or persons whatsoever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written and in the twenty fifth year of our Independancy.
