They came to the Wilmington, NC area from Onslow County, prior to the Civil War. He is the father-in-law of Stephen H. Morton (originally of Onslow County, then Wilmington, NC). This is the inscription upon the large Morton obelisk. Additional Comments: There is a smaller marker for Abram Wilder near the Morton obelisk. The root of a large magnolia tree has wrapped itself around his marker.
