Shown is the original small square marker and the larger, more recent CSA dedication marker. Additional Comments: Both Jesse Wilder and his brother-in-law, Stephen H. Morton, had served as cavalry officers during the Civil War. After the war, he returned to Wilmington, NC and started a lucrative business in turpentine distilling. His brother-in-law, Stephen H. Morton married Jesse's sister, and they moved to the area about 1871. Jesse Wilder and S.H. Morton became partners in the business.
