This is the left face of the D.L. Russell, Sr. memorial.  The inscription 
reads, " CAROLINE E. SANDERS WIFE OF D.L. RUSSELL BORN AUG. 5, 1825 DIED NOV. 
14, 1845. _ "

Caroline Elizabeth Sanders was the oldest child of David Ward Sanders and Alice 
Mitchell (of Onslow County).  She had twin brothers who were born in 1829.  She 
married Daniel Lindsay Russell, the son of Thomas Russell and Obiah Ward (of 
Onslow County) in 1842.  Their first child, Daniel, Jr. was born in 1845, and 
she died a few months afterward.
