Witnesseth that the said Thomas Eason for in consideration of the sum of four hundred and seventy five dollars ($475.00) have bargained and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell and deliver to the said Jonas Pope his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land to wit being in the county and state aforesaid on the south side of the main run of the Potecasi Creek beginning at James C Wrights corner post oak and gum in the (illegible word) Parker line running thence south to a corner pine, thence North to a corner sweet gum in a branch thence down said branch to a run of a narrow branch, then down this _ of the branch to a gum at the margin of Potecasi Creek , thence North to an Ash at the run of said creek, thence down its ridge of said James C Wrights corner tur? Cypress, thence Wrights line south to the first station with all and every the appurtences thence to belonging or in any wise appertaining and I do hereby covenant to and with the said Jonas Pope, that I have before the execution of this deed the lawful right, absolute and lawful authenticity to sell the said land and p……. and agree h…y? to warrant and forever defend the right and title of the same to him the said Jonas Pope, his heirs and assigns forever In witness hereof, I have … set my hand and seal the day and year above written, sign sealed and delivered in the presence of; Viz A.J. John E Rogers CC Additional Comments: This land is the land sold to my great- great grandfather James Thomas “Tom” Baggett by Jonas Pope, when Baggett returned from Civil War, the land has been in my family since Baggetts original purchase, via his daughter (Della Baggett Futrell) whom married my Great grandad CT Futrell, and then my grandparents- Andrew Marnch Futrell and wife Edna Terry Futrell lived here their lives and begot my mother Jean Ann Futrell and her brother Anthony M “Andy” Futrell--- generally speaking the property is located at 36°21’23.33”N & 77°11’24.19” W about 2 miles from Woodland towards Murfreesboro highway 258 on left, the original acreage is not known as this deed above does not make mention but about 200 acres is likely amount also Baggett sold, and left some to other family members as the farm is smaller just over 100 acres at the time of this writing late spring 2016 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/northampton/deeds/eason803gdd.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 3.4 Kb
