Fly to Barnes) This Indenture made this the 14th day of March in the year of 
our Lord 1796 Between Elisha Fly of Northampton County & State of No. 
Carolina of the one part & James Barnes of the County of Southampton & state 
of Virginia of the other part/  Witnesseth the sd. Elisha Fly for a 
consideration of the sum of Forty pounds Virga. Current money to him in hand 
paid before the sealing & delivering of these presents the recpt. Whereof 
the sd Elisha Fly doth acknowledge granted bargained sold aliend enfeoffed 
& confirmed unto the sd. James Barnes & to his Heirs & assigns forever a 
certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the sd. County of NoHampton 
situate on the No. side of Kirby's Creek and thus bounded (Viz) Beginning at 
a Gum in John Dardens line Mill branch thence down the sd. Branch to a Maple 
then along Henry Barnes line to a corner Water Oak thence down the sd Branch 
to a pine tree along Barnes line to his corner pine in a small branch thence 
down the sd. Branch to Kirby Creek then up the various course of the sd. 
Creek to Silases line formerly or Odam's present corner thence up Odam line 
to Mungars corner Post Oak then along Mungars line to the first station 
containing eighty five acres be the same more or less which said land being 
party of a patent granted to Isaac Starling in the year of our Lord 1753 & 
by divirsements courses became vested in the sd. Elisha Fly part of these 
presents and all out houses buildings yards Gardens Woods ways waters water 
Courses Hereditiments & appertenances to the sd tract or parcel of land & 
premises with the appertenances belonging or in any wise appurtaining & the 
reversions & remainders rents issues & profits thereof & of every part & 
parcel thereof & all the estate gift title property claim & demand Whatsoever
of him the sd Elisha Fly of in to the same & every part & parcel thereof & 
all deeds evidences & writings touching or any wise concerning to the same 
to have & to hold the sd tract of land & premises with the appurtenances 
unto the sd James Barnes & his Heirs & assigns to only proper use & behoof 
of him the sd. James Barnes & his Heirs forever & I the sd Elisha Fly for 
myself my Heirs my Exrs & Admrs doth convenant Promise & grant to & with 
the sd. James Barnes his Heirs & assigns forever by these presents that the 
sd Elisha Fly & his Heirs doth warrant & defend sd. part or parcel of land 
& premises with the appertenances unto the sd James Barnes his Heirs & 
Assigns forever.
