DEED BOOK___ PAGE 209 27 January 1796 JOHN JOSSEY to WILLIAM BRIDGERS This indenture made this 27th day of January 1796, Between JOSSEY of Northampton County and North Carolina of the one part, and WILLIAM BRIDGERS, of said County of the second part. Witnesseth that JOHN JOSSEY, for and in consideration of Seven Hundred and Fifty Pounds current money of Virginia, to him in hand paid by WILLIAM BRIDGERS, before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith satisfied and paid, hath given, granted, bargained and sold unto WILLIAM BRIDGERS, his heirs or assigns and by these presents do fully, freely and absolutely given, granted, bargained, lett and deliver, lett over, alienate, convey and confirm unto him the said WILLIAM BRIDGERS, his heirs and assigns forever, that is to say Four pieces parcels or tract of land situate, lying and being in said County containing by estimation Four Hundred acres, be the same more or less, being all the land bequeathed to said JOSSEY by his Father, JAMES JOSSEY, dec'd. Being One Hundred acres purchased of ELIAS WILLIS dec'd, in the Meadows as assigned, deed date 3 September 1750 may appear, One Hundred Fifty acres purchased of ELIAS WILLIS, deed date 3 September 1750 may appear, Ninety acres purchased of ALEXANDER STEVENSON, deed date 5 July 1762 may appear, Forty acres purchased of SAMUEL COTTON, dec'd deed date may appear, together with the appurtenances thereof with every part and parcel thereof, the reversion and reversions thereof to him the WILLIAM BRIDGERS, his heirs and assigns forever, to have and to hold the above devised land and premises to him the said WILLIAM BRIDGES, his heirs and assigns forever, to the only sole and proper use, benefit and behoof of him the said WILLIAM BRIDGERS, his heirs and assigns forever. And he the said JOHN JOSSEY, for himself, his heirs, executors and admin. doth covenant, grant and agree to and with WILLIAM BRIDGERS, his heirs and assigns, that he the said WILLIAM BRIDGERS, his heirs and assigns shall and from time to time and at all times forever, have hold and occupy, possess and enjoy the above demised land forever more, without land troubles, molestation or demand of him, the said JOHN JOSSEY, his heirs, executors or admin. or any other person claiming or to claim, by, from, or and or him or them and the same will Warrant, and forever defend from the legal claim or demand of all and every other person whatsoever.
