Northampton NC  Deed Book 10 pg 486

This Indenture made the 26th day of January 1800
between William Barrow of Sumner County & State of
Tennessee, attorney for Mary Hilliard  orphan of
Robert Hilliard of Northampton North Carolina dec'd
of the one part

And John Veal of Northampton County NC of the second
part.

Witnesseth that the said Barrow by virtue of a power
of attorney made to him by the said Mary Hilliard as
by reference to ?  said Mary appears for in in
consideration of the sum of two thousand dollars
($2,000)  to him in hand paid by the said Veal, the
recp thereof do hereby acknowledge and himself
thereiwth fully satisfied and paid hath given,
granted, bargained and delivered and by those
present..... the said Veal, his heirs assigns
forever, that tract, piece or parcel of land lying
and being on the

North side of Roanoake River that was said Mary
Hilliard's dividend of the land of which her father,
Robert hilliard dec'd possessed containing by
estimation 100 acres the same more or less as by
reference to recpt....
