All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Guy Potts http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00017.html#0004214 January 7, 2019, 8:10 pm Written: 1797 Northampton County, NC Register of Deeds 2 Feb 1797 - Peter Weaver to Sarah Potts and Ann Eliza Potts, daughters of Joshua Potts, Merchant, of the county of New Hanover This Indenture made on the second day of February in the twenty first year of the Independancy of this United States of America and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven between Peter Weaver of the county of Northampton in the state of North Carolina Planter of the one part and Sarah Potts and Ann Eliza Potts the daughters of Joshua Potts of the county of New Hanover in the state aforesaid merchant of the other part witnesseth that the said Peter Weaver for and in consideration of the love and affection which he hath and beareth unto the said Sarah Potts and Ann Eliza Potts and the more effectual by to provide for their maintenance and support than they are able to do themselves being infants and also for and in further consideration of the sum of hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Joshua Potts as the Ami or next friend of the said Sarah Potts and Ann Eliza Potts the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted Bargained sold aliened released enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and by the presents doth give grant bargain sell alien release enfeoff convey and confirm unto the said Sarah Potts and Ann Eliza Potts their heirs executors administrators and assigns all that certain piece parcel or tract of land lying and being in the county of Northampton in the state aforesaid adjoining the northern and eastern side of the river Roanoake on the dividing line between the premises and the land sold Peter Weaver by Joshua Potts some years since, corner of an Old Field, dividing line between the premises and Lockharts land and Masons land, passing the ferry commonly called Moores Ferry to the beginning containing two hundred and fifty acres, along with all the out houses, edifices, and buildings thereon erected and built with, all waters and watering places, ferrys, ferry flats, heredatiments whatever to the land having and excepting as in herein after proved to have and to hold the said land unto them the said Sarah Potts and Ann Eliza Potts notwithstanding (smudge) able to the will of Richard Moore deceased, Mrs. Ann Stokes during her natural life and her two daughters Rebecca and Holly Stokes until respectively moved or until the said Sarah Potts or Ann Eliza Potts shall be moved or shall attain to the age of twenty one years shall be entitled to receive to their own use the net profits arising from the ferry and the said land and shall also occupy the house and plantation near the ferry or they or either of them shall so desire free of rents and proceeds also that namely Charles Moore his dependants and himself with his childrens families and each of their dependents shall at all times pass forredge free.
