GEORGE DALLAS BARNES

   George Dallas Barnes, 73, president of the Severn Peanut Company and 
prominent farmer and merchant of Severn, N.C., died at 2 o’clock Thursday 
afternoon, May 8, at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk.

   He is survived by his second wife, Mrs. Juanita Britt Barnes; their son and 
daughter, Garland D. Barnes of Severn and Mrs. Richard McGee of Colerain; 
another son, H.G. Barnes of Severn, by his first wife; three sisters, Mrs. 
Minnie Jones of Franklin, Mrs. Cora Beale of Portsmouth, and Mrs. Alice Ferguson 
of Suffolk. His first wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Fleetwood Barnes, died some years 
ago.

   Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the home, and 
burial followed in the Severn cemetery.
