He was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church and served on the Council of Ministries. He was a member of the Wakefield Ruritan Club. He was a retired farmer, Former resident of Greensville County, a former member of the Spring United Methodist Church, Greensville County and had served on the Greensville County School Board from 1969 – 1981. He was a member of the Widow’s Son Lodge No. 150 AF&AM, Emporia. He served on the Board of Directors of the Mecklenburg Electric Coop for twenty-one years. He is survived by his wife, Lois Hargrave Barrett; a son, C. Butler Barrett, Emporia; Five brothers, C. Leroy Barrett, Seaboard, NC, Paul R. Barrett, Jackson, NC, Alvin W. Barrett, Garysburg, NC, B. Franklin Barrett, Littleton, NC, and Arthur J. Barrett, Roanoke Rapids, NC; three stepsons, L. Charles Franck, Sutherland, E. Ray Franck, Bracey, and Stanley A. Brantley, Wakefield; five granddaughters; one grandson; five step-grandsons; one step-granddaughter; five great grandchidren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was the husband of the late Naomi Butler Barrett and father of the late Thedro Jefferson Barrett, Jr. A funeral service will be held in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield on Tuesday, January 11, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Charles Rowley. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
