II, P. 1 MARTHA SARAH "SADIE" FLEETWOOD BRITT Mrs. Martha Sadie Britt, 71, died at her residence in Severn, N.C., Saturday afternoon, April 7, at 5 p.m. after a long illness. She was the wife of E.T. Britt and a daughter of the late George T. and Mrs. Cornelia Fleetwood. Mrs. Britt was a lifelong resident of Northampton County and was a member of the Severn Baptist Church. Also she was a member of the Chowan Club of Chowan College, Murfreesboro, which school she had formerly attended. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cornelia B. Rock of Boykins; a son, Dr. Fleetwood of Murfreesboro, N.C.; a brother J.C. Fleetwood of Severn; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bowden of Arlington, and Mrs. Jim Limer of Warrenton, N.C.; her stepmother, Mrs. Ida Fleetwood of Severn; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the Severn Baptist Church Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. J.C. Ray, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. W.F. Taylor, Rev. Ben B. Ussery and Dr. A.W.H. Jones. Burial was in the Severn Cemetery. Active pallbearers were J.B. Stephenson, jr., Stuart Martin, Royal Watson, Cecil Maddrey, James W. Rock, Carol Parker, Rufus Bridges Ray Futrell. Friends of the family, in addition to Mr. and Mrs. Britt’s Bible classes, served as honorary pallbearers.
