DeBERRY On Wednesday, July 30, Charlie M. DeBerry, aged 50, was accidently killed at the Erego Stone Corp., Skippers, where he has been employed for the past 12 years. Mr. DeBerry was the son of the late J.H. DeBerry and Mrs. Fannie V. DeBerry of the Margarettsville, N.C., community. He was well known in Southampton County. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. J.H. Francis of Richmond; four brothers, E.R. DeBerry of Richmond, H.M. DeBerry of Franklin, J.H. DeBerry of Conway, N.C. and A.C. DeBerry of Margarettsville, N.C. Funeral services were held at Sharon Church near Margarettsville Friday evening at 4:00 with the Rev. Mr. Hurley, pastor of the church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. B.B. Bland of Franklin. Music was furnished by a quartette of the church and the following selections were sung: “God Be With You,” “Home Over There” and “Meet Me There.” Active pallbearers were: R.E. Rogers, H.C. Rogers, R.J. Jordon, J.M. Harris, H.O. Sledge and Fred Johnson. There were many beautiful floral offerings, which showed the high esteem he was held in by his many friends. Interment was made in the family lot of the cemetery of Sharon Church.
