He was born in 1875 in Northampton County, N.C., the son of Jesse and Pattie Edwards DeLoatche. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church and of its adult Bible class. Mr. DeLoatche was a retired rural mail carrier. He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Miss Joy DeLoatche. Services were held at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the residence and were largely attended. The Rev. J. Felix Arnold, his pastor, officiated, assisted by the Rev. C.F. Callaham. Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Mrs. E.W. Bryant, Mrs. A.M. Williams, Mrs. H.M. Purviance and L.L. Story, accompanied by Miss Retta V. Hart. Pallbearers were R.S. Edwards, R.E. Barrett, Jr., M.B. Drewry, W.H. Powell, J.M. Britt, A.S. Francis and Bailey Maddrey.
