I, P. 8 ELLIS CLYDE DELOATCH Ellis Clyde DeLoatch, 61, of Severn, N.C. , died unexpectedly at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the residence. He was a lifelong residence of Northampton County, and had many friends of the Boykins area. The deceased was the son of the late J.L. and Mrs. Sallie Sykes DeLoatch and husband of Mrs. Addie Barkley DeLoatche. A veteran of World War I, he served in the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and of the Severn Baptist Church. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Richard A. Coates of Portsmouth and Mrs. T.R. Griffin of Boykins; one son, Howard W. DeLoatch of Norfolk; five grandchildren; five brothers, Johnnie R. DeLoatche of Shelby, N.C., George D. and Charlie S. DeLoatche of Conway, N.C., W. Lloyd DeLoatche of Seaboard, N.C. and Bailey M. DeLoatch of Severn; and three sisters, Mrs. T.J. Tribble of Burlington, N.C., Mrs. J.C. Blowe of Boykins, and Mrs. J.Q. Taylor of Severn. Services for Mr. DeLoatche were conducted at the Severn Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock by the pastor, Rev. J.C. Ray. Burial was in the Severn Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Euclid Britt, Malcolm Davis, Ed Ferguson, Ray Futrell, Stuart Marvin and Calvin Woodard. Honorary pallbearers were members of the men’s Bible class of Severn Baptist church and friends of the family.
