WILLIAM HENRY HOWELL

   William Henry Howell of Severn, N.C. died Tuesday, April 7, after a brief 
illness, death being caused by pneumonia and complication. He was born in 
Northampton County, N.C,, October 25, 1859, and was one of his county’s most 
prominent citizens in religious and civic affairs. He is survived by the 
following children: Ernest Howell of Severn, Mrs. J.A. Pruden of 
Margarettsville, N.C., Mrs. Angus H. Hines of Suffolk, H.P. Howell of 
Smithfield, N.C., Miss Betty Starr Howell of Norfolk and Miss Claire Howell of 
Severn. His wife died in 1914, and is survived by seven grandchildren. The 
funeral services were conducted at the residence Wednesday afternoon at two 
o’clock with Rev. A.W.H. Jones of Severn and Rev. Frank B. Handley of Boykins, 
officiating. Floyd A. Hines, Charles Britt, Cade Rogers, J.B. Stephenson, Jr., 
Royal Watson, Henry Maddrey, W.S. Clark and Dr. F.P. Barrow served as 
pallbearers.
