JAMES NEWITT JOHNSON

SEVERN, N.C. – James Newitt Johnson, 77, a retired farmer, died in his home here 
Monday after a long illness.
A native of Southampton County, he was a member of Severn Baptist Church.
His parents were William and Mrs. Martha Taylor Johnson.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Euclid Britt of Severn and Mrs. Russell Long 
of Seaboard; three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Ricks of Murfreesboro, Miss Mary Johnson 
of Potecasi and Mrs. Viola Grant of Suffolk; two grandsons and a great-
grandchild.
A funeral service was held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Severn Baptist Church by the 
Rev. John Dean and the Rev. J.E. Sutton.
Burial was in Severn Cemetery with McDowell Funeral Home in charge.
