Newsome of Courtland, died in a Richmond hospital on Tuesday, June 16, after an illness of several months. The deceased was the daughter of the late William Eley and Laura Turner Britton of Northampton County, N.C. She was a member of the Vincent Grove Methodist Church. Besides her husband, the survivors are four daughters, Mrs. G.B. Burgess of Courtland, Mrs. Jack D. Butler of Franklin, and Mrs. F.R. Wade, Sr., and Mrs. H.G. Powers, Sr., of Norfolk; three sons, R.W. Newsome, Sidney Clarence Newsome, and Julius Baker Newsome, Jr., all of Franklin; 36 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Britton of Conway, N.C. Services for Mrs. Newsome were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons, with Rev. J.T. Cassell, pastor of the Vincent Grove Methodist Church, and Rev. R.D.
