Parker of Jackson, N.C., died at her home in that place at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 6. Although she had been in ill health for several months, her death was sudden and unexpected. Mrs. Parker was a native of Franklin, a daughter of the late Claude Godwin Parker and the late Marietta Owens Parker. She was active in the religious, civic and social life of her town; and the numerous floral tributes testified to the esteem in which she was held. Surviving her are her husband, B. Harvey Parker of Jackson; one son, Alan O. Parker of Asheville, N.C.; and four sisters, Mrs. A.H. Patterson of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Mrs. W.W. Cuthrell of Richmond, and Mrs. L.H. Babb and Miss Jeannette Parker of Ivor. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the Jackson Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member and were conducted by Rev. Cobb, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Rainey, pastor of the Jackson Baptist Church. Interment was in the Jackson cemetery.
