JULIAN PATRICK PORTER

   Julian Patrick Porter, of the Severn community, died suddenly in an ambulance 
en route to the Raiford Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 30.

   Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jay White Porter; two sons, Julian Patrick 
Porter, Jr., and James White Porter, both of Severn, N.C.; his mother, Mrs. 
Ellen Sykes Porter of Newsoms; three sisters, Mrs. H.P. Howell of Smithfield, 
N.C., Mrs. Darwin Lewter of Arlington, and Mrs. Edward Bunn of Baltimore, Md.; 
and an aunt, Miss Ellen Porter of Severn.

   Mr. Porter was a long time resident of Severn but was well known in 
Southampton County as a buyer of peanuts and cotton. He was a member of Boykins 
Masonic Lodge, Severn Baptist Church and Severn Ruritan Club.
