I, P. 7 RUSSELL FERDINAND SMITH BOYKINS – Russell F. Smith, 57, died suddenly at his residence here Friday, Nov. 28, at 11:50 a.m. He was the husband of Mrs. Estelle Ricks Smith and son of George Washington and Ella Tammie Griffin Smith. A native of Northampton County, N.C., he was a member of the Boykins Baptist Church. He was an automobile mechanic by trade. Besides his wife, surviving are his stepmother, Mrs. Lula Pulley Smith of Norfolk; two sons, M. Rudolph Smith of Truro, Mass.; two brothers, Ennis E. Smith of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Robert L. Smith of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. Ronie May Smith of Branchville, Mrs. Cora M. Francis of Franklin, Mrs. Ida E. Harper of South Norfolk and Mrs. Irma S. Crawford of California, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Purviance Funeral Home. The Rev. Ben B. Ussery, pastor of Boykins Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Waverly Bunch, George Smith, Lewis G.
