RONIE MAE GRIFFIN SMITH SMITH

   BRANCHVILLE – A funeral service for Ronie Mae Griffin Smith, 78, was held 
at 2:30 Tuesday in McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Revs. Dave Hoke and 
John Lennon. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.

   Mrs. Smith died Saturday in a hospital.

   A native of Northampton County, N.C., she was the wife of James L. Smith. 
She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church.

   Other survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Canada of Chesapeake, 
Evelyn Beatty of Newport News and Mavis Johnson of Gibsonton, Fla.; a son, 
George L. Smith of Branchville; two sisters, Euzlear Harper of Chesapeake and 
Cora M. Francis of Franklin; a brother, Robert L. Smith of Chesapeake; seven 
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
