All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Bruce Saunders bs4403@verizon.net October 21, 2013, 9:54 am THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 06-11-1943, P. 4 EUGENE HENRY TYLER Funeral services for Eugene Henry Tyler, age 54, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Tyler of Severn and Branchville, whose death occurred Thursday morning of last week at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, after a few days illness, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in the Funeral Home of I.O. Hill by Dr. H.J. Goodwin, pastor of the First Baptist Church at Suffolk, where the deceased was a consistent member. During the service members of the choir sang, “In the Garden,” “The Old, Rugged Cross” and “Abide with Me.” Mr. Tyler was a former mechanic, for a number of years in the Benthall Machine Co., but prior to his death, he was an employee at the Portsmouth Navy Yard. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Bessie King Tyler; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Miller and Miss Mary Tyler; three sons; James C. Tyler, E.K. Tyler, all of Suffolk, and H.T. Tyler, U.S.A. now stationed in North Africa; one grandchild, Sheila Miller of Suffolk; three sisters, Mrs. N.G. Harrell and Mrs. J.W.H. Darden of Branchville, Mrs. R.A. Bridgers of Severn, and one brother, L.O. Tyler, of Branchville. The casket was covered with a pall of red roses, white lilies and Baby’s Breath. There was a large gathering of relatives and friends, and many beautiful floral tributes. Pallbearers were his nephews; Martin Harrell of Norfolk, John Tyler Darden of Richmond, Linwood Bridgers of Severn, Ralph Barnes and Wilson Barnes of Boykins, a cousin Willie Tyler of Severn. Interment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
