MERRILL E. WINSLOW

THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 01-09-1942

   Merrill E. Winslow, 40, died Wednesday night in a Washington hospital from 
injuries he received in an accident while working on a construction job in 
that city.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Ruby Rogers Winslow of Washington and son of 
William W. Winslow of Rich Square, N.C. and the late Mrs. Peninah Cox Winslow.

   Surviving besides his wife and father are two daughters, Mary Carolyn and 
Joan Winslow of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. J. Paul Councill of Franklin and 
Mrs. Lenora W. Vick of Lillington, N.C.; one brother, Leonard Winslow of 
Richmond and one niece and three nephews.

   Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock form the home of 
Mrs. J. Paul Councill on the Sedley highway near Franklin, conducted by Dr. 
Elwood W. Johnson. Burial took place in the family cemetery at Woodland, N.C., 
pallbearers being Will Brown, Joe Brown, Exum N. White, T.J. Cox, O.J. Rogers 
and Irving Womble.
