Northampton County, NC - Wills - Blythe, John - 1826 Will of John Blythe In the name of God amen. I, John Blythe, of the county of Northampton and state of North Carolina being sick in body but of sound mind mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed to all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament and principally and first of all give my soul unto the hands of Almighty God and my body to be buried at the descretion of my Executors not doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive thee same again, and as to such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleasesd God to bless me in this life, I give, dismiss, and dispose of the same in the following manner and form - Item, I lend to my beloved wife the use of my land and plantation during her natural life or widowhood then I give and bequeath the said land and plantation to be equally divided between my two sons, Zachariah and Shugars. I also lend to my wife my negro boy Jim and my woman Silva to wit during life or widowhood then I give and bequeath them to my son Sugars. I also lend to my wife one feather bed my young mare and all my stock of cattle hogs household and kitchen furniture with my plantation utensils except one cow and one sow which I give to my son Zachariah one feather bed and furniture which I give to my daughter Polley one feather bed & furniture to my daughter Lucy, and one to my son Zachariah to them and their heirs forever. I give and bequeath the amount of a note due me from my son Solomon of one hundred and fifty dollars to be equally divided between my two sons viz. Allen & Benjamin. It is my will & desire that at death or marriage of my wife all that may remain of tools and plantation utensils be equally divided between my sons Zachariah and Sugars. It is my desire that my daughters Polly and Lucy shall have a home on my Land or in my house as shall best suit them during their lives single. I give to my son John seven dollars to Solomon five dollars. Lastly I constitute my wife my whole and sole executrix to this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th day of May in the year of Lord 1826.
