Northampton County, NC - Wills - BOON, Joseph-1790 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Nicholas Boon Will of Joseph BOON (1790) In the name of God Amen - I Joseph BOON of the County of Northampton and the State of North Carolina, calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to Die do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following (Vitz) First I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God who gave it to me and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner trusting in a glorious resurrection thro the Merits of my dear Redeemer Jesus Christ (*) Item, I lend to my loving Wife Savory all my Land or Lands with all my household furniture and Stock of all Kinds with all plantation utensils to her use during her Natural Life, afterwards to be disposed of in the following manner (Vitz) Item, I give to my loving Son William BOON all my Land or Lands with all my household furniture and Stock of all Kinds with plantation Utensils (*) To him and his Heirs forever I do constitute and Appoint to this my Will and testament my friends John Boon and John Fly my Executors to see the same performed agreeable to the true intent and meaning - here given under my Hand and Seal this Twenty fourth Day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred & Ninety Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presence of Bolling Boon (his Signature) and Sally _ _ Boon (her mark) Joseph - - Boon (his mark) This will was recorded in the Northampton December Court 1794 (Book B, page 59) - - John Boon qualified as Executor - - Joseph Boon's Mark was an "X" - - Sally Boon's mark was similar to a script D(?) or script S(?) * a symbol that I am not familiar with - - It is not known who actually wrote this will. However the "Bs" in the Signature of Bolling Boon closely match the "Bs" found elsewhere in the document. It is not that the will used for the transcription is the original; it may be a "Court Clerk's" copy; this could account for the match of the letter "B" throughout the document.
