Will of Micajah Edwards
Northhampton County 1857

I Micajah Edwards of the  county of Northhampton state of North 
Carolina do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and 
form following that is to say.
1st
I desire that my just debts and funeral expenses after my decease 
be paid out of perishable estate and should there be an insufficiency 
of perishable property for the above purpose then it is my desire 
that my executor hereinafter named shall in his sound discretion 
pursue whatever course with the residur of my property towards the 
?? of my just debts that he may think best
2nd
After the payment of my debts used, funeral expenses I give to my 
beloved wife Sarah Edwards during her natural life the residue of 
my personal estate and after her death it is my desire that it shall 
be equally divided between my children thus living my son Etheldred 
Edwards excepted he being heretofore provided for
3rd
I give to my beloved wife Sarah Edwards the plantation upon which I 
now reside containing about one hundred fifty acres during her 
natural life and after her decease I give the same to my beloved son 
John T Edwards to be enjoyed by him forever
And lastly
I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved Etheldred Edwards 
executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other 
and former wills or testaments by me hereunto made 
       In witness of the foregoing will and testament I have hereunto 
set my hand and affixed my seal this 5th day of July in the year of 
our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty five
