Northampton County, NC - Wills - Futrall, John- 1786 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Gerald Byrd Last Will and Testament of John Futrall In the name of God Amen I John Futrall of Northampton County being at present in perfect sound mind & memory thanks be to god for it therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following. First of all, I would that all my actual debts be paid before my Estate distributed. Item: I give the use of my plantation to my wife Martha Futrall during her widowhood whereon I now live & the mill & all the lands thereunto belonging, also the labour of four negroes Olive, Burwell, Emma, Jinney, also one mare saddle and Bridle, also three cows & calves, three Ewes and lambs, one feather bed & furniture also thirty head of hog, iron pot & frying pan, one chest, two pewter Basins, two dishes, four plates, one woolen wheel, one linnen wheel & all the flax in the plantation, all the corn & meat on the plantation at my death. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Thomas Futrell my negro woman named Silvy & her increase to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son John Futrell two hundred acres of land whereon he now lives to him & his heirs forever also one negro boy named Elijah to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Chasity Lassiter my negro girl named Hannah to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Joel Futrell one negro girl named Patience & one whipsaw to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Ephraim Futrell one negro girl named Nan to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Jehew Futrell my plantation whereon I know live containing fifty-two acres. Item: I would that my son Daniel Futrell have all their grain ground all free as long as they are in reach of the mill, my son Jehew to receive this gift when my wife is done with it then I say to Jehew and his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Jehew Futrell one hundred and fifty acres of land being the remainder part of my piney woods land to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Jehew my negro man Dick & Sal & Deliah to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Phereby Futrall my negro girl named Lydia to her & her heirs forever. Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Lawrence Futrell whereon my son Ephraim formerly did live fifty acres of land, also one hundred fifty acres of land adjoining (Gabessy Pocoson) to him & his heirs forever, also two negroes Burwell & Jimmy to him & his heirs forever, also my Black Smith tools to my son Lawrence & his heirs forever, so my mare called Pleasant, saddle & bridle to my son Lawrence. Item: I give & bequeath unto my grandson Daniel Futrell two hundred acres of land whereon his father did live, also one negro woman named Olive (only) for my grandson Nathan Futrell to have the first living child she bears & then to Daniel & his heirs forever, also my grandson Daniel Futrell one (mare) called called Toby, one cow & calf, one Ewe & lamb, one weeding hoe & axe. Item: I give & bequeath unto my two grandchildren Isham Odom & Elizabeth Odom fifty pounds to be equally divided between them specie money if heirs, no heirs no gift. Item: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Martha Futrell one negro girl named Emme, also one horse called Spark, one saddle & bridle to him & his heirs forever. As far as the remainder part of my Estate within doors & without doors I give to my daughter Martha Futrell and her heirs forever.
