Northampton County, NC - Will of Green Lasiter, 1815 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Green Lassiter's Will In the name of God Amen I Green Lassiter of Northampton County and State of North Carolina being at this time very weak in body but of a sound mind and memory thanks be to God for it, therefore calling to mind the mortatlity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all flesh once to die, as for all the worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give in the following manner and form. Item It is my will and desire that my just debts and funeral charges be paid by my executors hereafter named. Item I lend my loving wife Drucilla Lassiter the use of the Land and plantation where on I now live during her natural life or widowhood and after her death or marriage I give and bequeath said land and plantation to my two sons Reddick & William Lassiter to be equally divided between them share and share alike, to them and their heirs forever. Item I leave all the rest of my property of every kind in the care of my said wife to raise my children on, and after they all arrive to lawful age to be equally divided amongst my seven daughters (viz) Elizabeth, Parthenia, Martha, Delila, Mary, Mildred, & Drucilla Lassiter to them and their heirs forever. I nominate and appoint Elliot Futrell to this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 31 day of October 1815. his Signed Sealed & acknowledged Green (X) Lassiter (seal) in the presence of his her mark Josiah Blanchard, Elias (X) Lassiter, Elsia (X) Lassiter mark mark Northampton County 5 of December Court 1815. This last Will and Testament of Green Lassiter decd was proved in open Court by the oaths of Josiah Blanchard and Elias Lassiter both of the subscribing witnesses thereto, thereupon Eliot Futrell the executor in said Will named qualified agreeably to Law ordered to be certified & recorded.
