Northampton County, NC - Wills - Lassiter, Jesse-1784 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Nancy Cagle Last will and Testament (transcript) of Jesse Lassiter March 20, 1784 In the Name of God Amen this twentyth day of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty four, I Jesse Lassiter of Northampton County, North Carolina, being sick in body but of good and sound memory, thanks be to God for the same, and calling to mind the uncertain Estate of this transiory (?) life and that all flesh must yield to Death when it shall please God to call, do make constitute ordain and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and fourm following. Revoking annulling by these presents all and every testament or testimonial will and wills heretofore by me made and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament and noneother and first being sorry for my past sins most humbly desire forgiveness for the same and now for the settling my temporal estate and such goods chattels and debts as it hasth pleased God to bestow upon me, I do order and give and dispose the same in manner and form following. That is to say first that all my just debts and dues be paid within convenient time after my deceast by my elects(?) hereafter named. Item I give and bequeve unto my daughter Tabitha Rodgers the wife of Abraham Rogers five shilling to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeve to my daughter Lucrece Blanchard the wife of Epham Blanchard five shilling to her and her heirs forever. Item I give unto my son James Lassiter five shillings to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeve unto my son Jesie Lassiter all my land on the North side of the neck branch containing one hundred and ten acres to him and his heirs or assigns forever. Item I give and bequeve unto my son Joseph Lassiter, that tract of land that I had of Edwin Bordgers(?) containing eighty eight acres of land to him and his heirs or assigns forever. Also one negro gal named Brigot to him and his heirs or assigns forever. Item I give and bequeve unto my son Wile Lassiter one negro gal names Gile to him and his heirs or assigns forever. Item I give and bequeve unto my son Aron Lassiter my manner plantation and land on the West side of the neck Branch containing one hundred and ten acres to him and his heirs or assigns forever. Item I lend to my beloved wife Mary Lassiter my negro wench Peg and my negro wench Rachel and my negro wench Jane and my negro gal Willis and my negro gal Ama and the rest of my estate that is not afore mentioned to her in during her life and after her decs t (???) Item I give and bequeve to my six daughters, Martha Lassiter, Mary Lassiter, Leariby (?) Lassiter, Anne Lassiter, Winaford Lassiter, Vina Lassiter, all my estate that I lent to my wife to be equally divided amongst the said six daughters to them and their heirs and asigns forever and I do nominate and appoint my friend Jesse Williams and my friend James Vinson my seal Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament and do publish and pronounce this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner as above so as wittness my hand and seal this twentyth day of March one thousand and seven hundred and eighty four.
