I William McGregor of Northampton County and State of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be to God) do this 6th? day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say- Item 1st I lend to my beloved Wife Nancy McGregor the whole of my Estate both real and personal during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage my will and desire is that one hundred Dollars be raised out of my Estate, which hundred dollars I give and bequeath to my son Anthony McGregor, to him and his heirs forever.-- Item 2nd I give an bequeath to my Son William McGregor at my Wifes death or Marriage one negro boy named Moses and one still which I now have in use, to him and his heirs for ever-- Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my son Alexander McGregor at my wifes death or Marriage one negro man by the name of Billy, one Sorrel Alderman? Colt one gun and one feather Bed and furniture and all my land below the branch that runs into the south prong of Jack swamp just above the house- Beginning at the mouth of the branch where it empties in to Jack swamp thence up the branch to a white oak on the side of a path thence along the path until it come into the road just below Robert Foxes Dwelling House to him and his heir forever Item 4th I give and bequeath to my two Daughters after my wifes death or Marriage, Nancy Williams and Frances McGregor my two Negroes Betty & Esther to be equally divided between them also all the residue of my land lying above the branch as before mentioned to be equally divided between my two Daughters before mentioned. But my will and desire is that my daughter Nancy Williams (after making an equal division of said land the line beginning at Jack swamp and running a north course) should have the upper part of said land to them and their heirs forever, Item 5th My Will and desire is that in case either of my Children should die under age or without heir that all the property which has heretofore or may hereafter be devised to them should be equally divided between my three surviving Children to them and their Heirs forever-- Item 6th All the residue) of my property which has not heretofore been devised away shall be sold and equally devided between Anthony McGregor William McGregor Nancy Williams and Francis H. McGregor to them and thei Heirs forever- And I hereby make and ordain my beloved Wife Nancy McGregor & my son William McGregor Executors of this my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I the said William McGregor have to this my last Will and testament set my hand and Seal the day and year above written his William X McGregor Seal mark Signed Sealed published and declared by the said William McGregor the testator as his last will and testament in the presence of us who were present at the time of signing and sealing thereof-- Mr. Francis Dancy (looks like "Just"--justice of peace?) Long your ____ to ____ ____ for Lockhart (Transcriber's note: There is another page which appears to be written by the court, it is mostly unreadable by me, here is what I can make out) Northampton.......Court 1815 This will was proved by the oath of Francis Dancey one of the subscrbing witnesses hereto, and by the oath of the said Francis Dancey who proved the writing of Robert Fox decd the other subscribing witness to said will & one of the subscribing witnesses to the Codicil ____ ____ that said will & Codicil be recorded whereof ____ William McGregor qualifies? executer thereto in ____ (There appears a signature after this which is unreadable.)
