FIRST: I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it hoping through the mercy of Jesus Christ my redeemer to reconise pardon for all my sins and my body to the ground to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors hereafter named, and touching such temporal estate goods and chattles as it hath pleased the Almighty God to heretofore on me I give in manner and form following: I give and bequeath to my son William Moring nine Negroes namely, Kadar, Isaac, George and Willis, Judah, Betty, Betsy Mallam?, Mourning also Phebe also fifty acres of land which I purchased from William Norm? and joining the land which enjoin Jeffrey’s lines or at presently and the lands of Ricki Lawrence to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath to my son William Moring after my just debts being paid the residue or whole of my property consisting of stocks of different kind, household and kitchen furniture, plantation utensils also to the daily proper use and behoof of him the said William Moring his heirs and assigns forever. Lastly, I do hereby constitute appoint and ordain my son, John E. Moring together with my friend Baldy Ashburn whole and sole executors of this my last Will and Testament, revoking and disannulling all former wills heretofore made by me and doth acknowledge this only to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and fix my seal the 26 day of May 1814. Page 346 State of North Carolina Bertie County Court May Term 1816 This paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Christian Moring dec’d was exhibited to court for probate and William Mebane having from that he was well acquainted with the hand writing of the dec’d Christian and that he believed the same to have been signed by the said Christian whereupon it is ordered that the same be recorded. Cherry, Clerk of Court Additional Comments: It is interesting to see that Christian Moring writes his Will in Northampton County but there are no witnesses on the Will and it is probated in Bertie County.
