Northampton County, NC - Will of Henry Peters, 1819 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of Henry Peters In the name of God Amen, I, Henry Peters of Northampton County & State of North Carolina, being sick but of sound mind & memory do make and ordain this to be my last will & testament in manner and form following VIZ- I give to my wife, Charlotte Peters my riding gear, harness and the Petteway Mare to her and her heirs forever. I lend to my sd wife all my lands in Northampton County during her life and after her death to be equally divided between my two sons Richard Henry Peters and John William Peters which I give to them and their heirs forever. I give to my son James Peters all my lands in Greensville County VA to him and his heirs forever. I give to my daughter July Ann Peters, 500 dollars to her and her heirs forever. It is my will and desire that all my negroes be kept together and to work on the plantations as family and the profits arising there from to be equally divided between my wife and four children, James Peters, Richard Henry Peters, John William Peters and July Ann Peters. It is also my will that if either of my children should die before they come of age or leave a lawful heir then the same portion be divided between the surviving ones. In case any money should be left after paying my debts, then the balance to be divided between the said children. Also, at the death of my wife all the balance of my estate be equally divided between my sd children. Lastly, I nominate and appoint my said wife, John Peters and James Barrett my executors to this my said last will and testament in witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal this 28th day of January, 1816.
