Northampton County, NC - Wills - Veale, Richard-1781 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Virginia Crilley NORTHAMPTON WILL BOOK I PAGE 246 RICHARD VEALE's Will In the name of God, Amen. The eighteenth day March 1781, I Richard Veal of Northampton County and State of North Carolina being of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordaing this my last will and testament. First of all, give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried at the direction of my Exrs and touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to Bless me with, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimus. I give and bequeath unto my son, JOHN VEAL, the plantation whereon my mother formerly lived and part of my other plantation as far as my Spring and from thence up a branch that is Ditched to SIMON JEFFERS line and fifty acres of land in Holley Pocosin. I likewise give, my said JOHN VEAL, the whole of my smithtools to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my son WILLIAM BRIDGES VEAL the plantation wheron I now live and all the rest of the land that I am possessed with also my still and hand mill to him and his heirs forever. Then I give and bequeath unto my sister, PATIENCE JOLLIFF five pounds in gold and silver ____ during her natural life or widowhood. I like wise give my Sister her maintainance out of my Estate during her natural life or widowhood provided she shall think proper to live on one of my plantations and take care of my children. If not I leave her no other maintenance but the five pounds panmium. It is also my will that the negroes, Old SAM, ROBEN, PEMFRY, RSE, Pink and Inde and all their small children, that is fitten to let out, shall be kept and work on my plantation ___hired out, until my son, JOHN VEALE, comes to the age of twenty one years. Then it is my will that he thwole of my negroes and all the remainder of my estate be equally divided between my two sons. And I hereby constitute and ordain my loving friends, JOHN KNOS, AND THOMAS WHITE of the ocunty afores'd Exrd to this my last will and testament and I do hereby cancel, revoke and annul any other former testaments, wills and bequeaths by me made, ratifying this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year before written.
