Rhem vs Lemuel Tull – Onslow County, North Carolina The Demurrer of William Tull and Lemuel Tull – two of the defendants to the petition of William B. Rhem, adm of William Tull, dec Mary Tull, Francis Hill (sic) and Nancy Tull were three of the defs. Petition to the Court Fourth Monday in Sept 1849, Onslow County – executed on all defendants except Frances Tull and Nancy Tull Petition of William B. Rhem, Adm of William Tull dec of Onslow Co – Tull died 1849 intestate and letters of Administration were given to Rhem Tull died indebted to various persons including John H. Peebles of Lenoir Co for $1500 – he died with a small estate amounting to ____ dollars which has all been expended and distributed, the payment of a years provisions for the widow Polly, the funeral and other death charges, leaving debts still due unto John Peebles amounting to the whole of the perishable value of the land; said Tull was also involved in a lawsuit before his death involving a lot of money – he left behind his widow, Lemuel Tull, William Tull, Mariah Tull, Mary Tull, Jane the wife of Melcher Rhem, Eliza Tull, Nancy Tull and Frances Tull the last four under the age of 21 – all were his children Shortly before his death he purchased a tract from Joshua Foy of Onslow County of New River adj to the land of Wm. B. Rhem, Eli W. Sanders, James Montfonts of 950 acres for which he paid $3,250.00 procured that the conveyance title from Foy to Tull’s children, the defendants Lemuel and William Tull – still Tull went into possession of said land and controlled it until his death. Said Lemuel and William paid nothing for it and this was done to defraud his creditors – the land should be sold to pay the debts of the deceased There was another piece of paper that indicated there was a son Noah who was the 4th child under 21 not Jane who md Melcher Rhem so this is unclear William Tull was appointed guardian to Nancy and Frances Tull ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
