Onslow County, NC - James Henderson Land Patent, 1666 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a transcription of the original land patent (on file in the Virginia State Archives Online) to the first known Henderson in America in Virginia which turned into Maryland. Barnabas Henderson of Onslow County was the first of his descendants to migrate to our State. To all ye whersay ye knowye that I the said Sir William Beckely Knight Governor. Do give and grant unto James Henderson Four Hundred Acres of Land situate in the County of Accomack on the South side of the Pocomook River and bounded on the Northern parts therewith on the Eastern by the Lands surveyed for Thomas Davis and running from the river along his line South three hundred and twenty poles, to a corner tree marked, thence North West and by West two hundred and seventy six poles to another corner tree marked, thence North and by East two hundred and eighty eight poles unto Pocomook River. The said Land being due him for the transportation of eight persons ye to have and to hold ye to be held ye yielding and paying ye provided ye dated the fifth day of April One Thousand Six Hundred and Sixty Six. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
