B, p. 213-214 Joshua MILLS & William MILLS, both of Onslow Co., NC 27 Jan 1797 This Indenture made this 27th day of January 1797 - between Joshua MILLS of Onslow County and State of North Carolina, farmer of the one part and William MILLS of the same county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that I, Joshua MILLS for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred pounds good and lawful money of the state to me in handmaid by the said William MILLS the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed unto the said William MILLS his heirs and assigns forever one certain messuage tract or parcel of land situate on the north side of the northwest of New River in Onslow County beginning at a red oak standing by the swamp side and running from thence north 60 east 140 poles to a pine. Then north 20 west to a bottom called the oaky bottom to William MILLS’ line thence down said line and with the oaky bottom to the main swamp and then up the various courses of the main swamp to the first station containing by estimation one hundred acres of land more or less. To have and to hold the above said bargained premises with all appurtenances to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining with all houses, plantations, orchards, and all privileges thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and I the said Joshua MILLS do freely give up all my right and title that is before mentioned unto the said William MILLS, his heirs and assigns forever in as full and clear a manner to all intents and purposes as the most learned in the law could advise, devise or require and I the said Joshua MILLS do warrant and defend the said land and plantation unto him the said William MILLS his heirs, and assigns forever and I do acknowledge before the unsealing and delivery of these presents that I am the true and lawful owner of the premises and have in myself good right and lawful authority to dispose of the same in manner aforesaid. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
