OLIVER of Onslow Co., NC to Benjamin ROCHEL of New Hanover Co., NC 18 Sept 1823 State of N. Carolina Onslow County This Indenture made this 18th of September 1823 between Lewis T. OLIVER of the county & State aforesaid of the one part and Benjamin ROCHEL of the County of New Hanover and State aforesaid. Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Benjamin ROCHEL, I do hereby acknowledge myself satisfied do bargain and sell a Certain Tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Onslow & State of sd. on the South side of the Southwest branch of New River, 1st piece beginning at a pine standing in the Edge of Cypress Swamp & Runs North 178 poles to a pine on a Ridge the West to Cypress Run then down the Various courses of the Run to the Pattent line then east to the beginning containing fifty acres more or less. 2nd piece Joining or binding on the aforesaid tract on the South side of little sandy run beginning at a pine near said Run & runs S 70 W 90 poles to the Center of three pines at the head of the watering hold branch then S 83 E 178 poles to great sandy run then up the Various courses of said run to the mouth of little sandy run then up little sandy run to the beginning. 3rd piece lying in the Indian Islands on the South side of great Sandy Run beginning at a white oak on the swamp0 side Running E 127 poles to a pine on the great branch then down the same N 127 poles to two Laurels in Sandy run Swamp above the mount of the great branch then down Sandy Run Swamp W 127 poles to a Laurel in the Swamp then down the same S 127 poles to the first Station. 4th piece Joinin the first above mentioned beginning at a the 2nd Corner of Said piece Running E 127 poles to a pine in the edge of the great pond then S 127 poles to Robert COTTLES corner at the Run of Great Sandy Run then down the Various Courses of Said Run to the Mouth of Cypress Run then up said Run to the patient line of the 1st piece then E to a pine then N 127 poles to the first Station Containing In the whole three hundred & fifty acres more or less together with all the houses Out houses waters & Water Coursed & Other Appurtenances thereto unto him the said Benjamin ROCHEL his heirs and assigns forever free from he Claim or Claims of any person or persons Whatever & I the said Lewis T. OLIVER do warrant & Defend the right & title of the above mentioned Land free from me my heirs Executors administrators And assigns forever unto the Said Benjamin ROCHEL his heirs or Assigns forever.
