Witnesseth that the said Eli Ward for and in consideration of the sum of two thousand eight hundred & fifty dollars lawful money of the state to him in hand paid by the said Edward Ward at and before the ensealing & delivery of these presents the Rect. where of is hereby aknowledged & the said Eli W. Ward fully satisfied & by these presents doth give grant & confirm to the said Edward Ward & to his heirs & assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land & premises herein after particularly described situated in the county of Onslow & state of No. Carolina on the east side of Newriver lying between Sneads ferry & where Richard Collins now lives known by the name of Jarrets Point Plantation & the Towfields & the lands adjoining (the Towsfield is where John Garrott or John Jarrott (we find his name spelt both ways) first settled on said lands who was the father of Richard Jarrott & John Jarrott whose deeds may be found for the conveyance of this lands Reference to said deeds will better explain & reference to said John Jarrott Senr.s will may further explain how he devised of said land or a part there of between his two sons Reference being had to a grant to David Jones dated 13th day of March 1756 for one hundred and forty five acres will shew a part of said land Reference to a grant to John Garret or John Jarrett dated March 4th 1766 for two hundred & twenty six acres will shew another part of said land Reference to a deed from Richard Whithurst to John Jarret dated 13th day of September 1745 shews another part Reference to a deed from Richard Jarrett to William Cray dated 29th day of Dec 1783 will shew a conveyance for part of said land A deed from William Cray to Seth Ward dated 1st of Nov 1785 from the said Seth Ward a greater part of said land went to his son George Ward the said Geroge bought one hundred acres more of John Hancock Reference to a deed from said Hancock to George Ward dated 19th of August 1797 will show -- From George Ward it descended to his son Eli West Ward one of the present parties The out lines of the land here conveyed Begins & runs as follows beginning at the mouth of a Creek called two pole thence running up said Creek & bench?? Richard Collinses line then with his line to the main road leading to Sneads ferry then down the road the road being the line to an oak at the head of a branch or creek which divides the land of the heirs of Edward Melson & this here conveyed by these presents then down said branch or Creek to its mouth wehe it empties into the bay or River then along the river shore the various courses of the same to the end of Jarrotts Point Thenup the river the various courses of the River shore to Hayneses Creek or as some call it Aarons Creek then across the mouth of Hayneses or Aarons Creek to the Towfield thence Continuing up the river the various courses of the river bank along the Towfield bank to a Creek called Jarvises Creek the dividing line between this land & the land formerly owned by Charles Snead which was sold to Christopher Dudley thence up the said Creek and with it untill it strikes Dudleys line then with Dudleys line to the River a short distance above lowpoint then up the River the various courses of the river shore & with the River shore to the mouth of Two Pole Creek the beginning containing by estimation six hundred and seventy one acres more or less together with all and singular the profits, previlages & advantages with the appertainances to the same belonging as in anywise appertaining --- Also all the estate, right, title etc. whatsoever Of the said Eli W. Ward of in & to the same. To Have and to hold all the above tracts or parcels of land and premises there to belonging unto the said Edward Ward his heirs & assigns forever & the said Eli West Wards for him self his executors etc. with the said Edward Wards heirs etc. the above described tracts of land or tract of land at the time of ensealing and delivery of these presents are not encumbered by mortage, judgment or limitations or by any incumbrance whatsoever by which the title of Edward Ward hereby made or intended to be made for the above described land. Also that the said Eli W Ward has good right full power & lawful authority to grant, sell the said land in manner aforesaid. Also that he covenants to defend forever the said land and premises unto the said Edward Ward his heirs or assigns. In witnesses where of the said Eli W.
