Ray on Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Mrs. Atlas Matthews will have charge of the demonstrations. All Members are urged to be present. The Woman’s Society of Christian Service will hold their first meeting since the new officers have been installed for the ensuing year at Oak Grove church on Friday evening at 8 o’clock. There are things of importance to be taken up at this meeting and all members should be present to take their part in beginning the new year’s work for the church and community. The new president, Mrs. Grace Sanders, will be in charge of the meeting. Prayer meeting at Oak Grove church will be conducted by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parker on Thursday evening at 8 o’clock. This is the usual weekly prayer meeting night. All in the community are invited to attend these services. A week’s revival has been held at the bear Creek Baptist church here. These services were well attended. The Daily Vacation Bible School is in progress at the Baptist church this week. Tucker Reid Littleton of Swansboro is in charge of the school, assisted by workers in this community. All children in the vicinity are invited to attend this school. C. T. Russell spent the weekend here with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Russell. Mrs. Pauline Sanders and Mrs. Lillian R. Ray joined Mrs. Bennie Holland from Silverdale and Miss Florence Davis from Marshallberg on Monday morning to go to Raleigh where they spent until Thursday attending Grand Chapter, Order of the eastern Star. After the meeting Mrs. Ray visited friends in Mayodan and also attended a workshop for the Delta Kappa Gamma officers and committee chairmen on Saturday at Woman’s College in Greensboro. Mrs. Bessie Warner visited Mrs. Kate Russell on Monday afternoon. David Sanders has returned to Asheville where he will continue his study in a law school there. Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Hall spent the week end here with Mr. Hall’s parents, Mr. And Mrs. Johnson Hall. The friends and relatives of Edgar Morton were saddened to learn of his death. Mrs. Grace Sanders and Mrs. Sadie Sanders visited Mr. and Mrs. Luther Morton on Sunday afternoon. Additional Comments: Tucker Reid Littleton would later become a noted Onslow County historian.
