"CRATE" CAPPS, Sr.

Lindsey "Crate" Capps Sr., 88, of 459 College St. died Monday at N.C. Memorial 
Hospital in Chapel Hill.  The funeral was conducted today at Jones Funeral 
Home.  Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Capps was a life-long resident of Onslow County and a retired farmer.  He is 
survived by his wife, Nellie T. Capps; three sons, L.C. Capps Jr. and Mourice 
Capps, both of Jacksonville, and Cecil Capps of wilmington; a daughter, Ellen 
Covil of Jacksonville; a brother, Letha Capps of Jacksonville; two sisters, 
Etta Robinson and Monnie Foy, both of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; and 
eight great-grandchildren.

Additional Comments:
In one census record he is listed as "Linza Crato Capps".  One record lists 
his date of birth as 09 Oct 1891. His wife was Ellen Lee "Nellie" Thomas, the 
daughter of Charles and Laura L. Thomas.
