This is a headshot taken from the original photo of her sitting on her porch 
steps.  In the original photo, she is sitting erect with her hands folded, 
wearing a white blouse and a long dark, high waisted, skirt.

Kitty Caroline Sanders was the second daughter of Isaac Newton Sanders, Jr. and 
Sarah Caroline Burns.  She was born July 16, 1846 and died March 16, 1929.

She married twice.  Her first husband was Benjamin Haskins.  They had three 
children: Sarah Caroline Haskins, Kate R. Haskins and David B. Haskins.  
Benjamin Haskins died in 1877.

Her second husband was Robert White Freshwater.  They were married in March of 
1878.  They had three children also: Thalia Alma, Alice J. and Caroline Sanders 
Freshwater.

Additional Comments:
I have been told that she hated the name, "Kitty" and that she preferred to be 
called "Carrie" by some.

The Haskins girls married Russell brothers, William Walker Russell and Daniel 
Ward Russell.  The girls' brother, David B. Haskins died when he was 10 years 
old.

Thalia Alma Freshwater married Lawrence deLafayette Morton (of Swansboro, NC). 
Caroline Sanders Freshwater married Samuel Isaac Farnell (of Jacksonville, NC) 
Alice J. Freshwater died just short of her 3rd birthday.
