Lawrence Edgar, the son of Lawrence deLafayette Morton and Thalia Alma 
Freshwater of Swansboro, NC. "Buddy", as he was known, was a Merchant Marine 
for many years, acting as an "Able Bodied" Seaman aboard various freighters and 
passenger liners.  He travelled extensively in the 1920s and 1930s between New 
York City and Hamburg, Germany and to South America and California on various 
steamships.

This is a generic postcard representing ships like the S.S. George Washington 
or the S.S. President Roosevelt. Note the ship's name is not shown on the bow. 
Information such as gross tonnage (13,869) and shipping routes was included on 
the opposite side of the card.


Additional Comments:
This card had the handwritten year of 1939 on the opposite side of the card.
