have been written by Josiah himself and has several smears, repeated words, 
inventive spelling, etc.
 
 
The Will of Josiah Henderson, Dec. 13, 1844

In the Name of god Amen I Josiah Henderson S'r do make and order this my Last 
Will and testament, as follows thanks be to god for his merses [mercies?] 
hoping [?] that I may one With that blesed Rector at the later day of Almity 
god god abel to save to all that Committh unto him in fear and tremblin 


furstly I devise my body to the earth from furst it twas tooke I hopes of that 
Reseracton

furstly I devise that all my Just debts to be paid

Secondly I give to my Sun Hillary Henderson One Sou an two Couse and Calfs One 
fethebad bed [sic]

thirdly I give to my Sun bejamin Henderson Heirs ten dollars ech

forthly I give Unto Hears of gabriel Henderson Hears ten Dollars each and one 
negro boy by ___ Elizabeth Warters ten dollars

fifthly I give ______ my sun Josiah Henderson One Negro bob [boy?] by the name 
of James

Sixthly I give Unto My daugh alce __ two Negros One Ela and anthony

Sevethly I give to my sun Danniel a Negro woman by the Name of Dafney and hur 
yongist Child by the Name Hester

Then was the foregoing will of Josiah Henderson Sr decesd offered for probate 
in open Court and admitted on the Oaths of Harris & Southy Warters the 
Subscribing Witnesses thereto and Josiah Henderson the executor therein named 
appeared in open Court and was duly qualified according to Laws It is 
therefore Ordered that Letters testamentary issue to the Executor and this 
Will be recorded & filed
